About Us
Overview
The Northwestern Club Fencing team is a co-ed team that is open to all students. We practice throughout the whole school year. Most of our competitions take place in Winter Quarter with our final competition taking place at the beginning of Spring Quarter.
At the end of the 1994 season, the Men’s Varsity Fencing team lost it’s Varsity status in order to remain in compliance with Title IX. We have been a club team ever since. While our origins are rooted in the Men’s Varsity team, we are a co-ed team with both men and women participating.
Throughout the year, we travel to several different schools in the Midwest for our competitions including Notre Dame, OSU, and UW Madison. We participate in both the Midwest Fencing Championship(MFCs) and the College Fencing Championship(CFCs). With 5 national championships at CFCs under our belt, the most recent being in 2015, we have more national titles than any other club team in the competition’s history. While we are proud of our team’s history, we are looking forward to a strong season this year and will do our best to add to the team’s win record.
We practice 3 times a week in Patten Gymnasium and are always looking for new members.
